The ShriVidya is a greatest compilation of collective efforts of the sages, seers and seekers since the time started to travel. The journey is timeless and so the knowledge of ShriVidya is.
It is said that the true knowledge of ShriVidya will be given to Lord Dattatreya by his Eternal Master Lord Sadashiva himself, when he recognized the true prudence and the depth of pious intention Lord Dattatreya had carried toward the world. Lord Sadashiva already received requests from some sincere hearts who wanted to carry his divine nectar alike wisdom in all universes. He was very pleased with their dedcation, so he granted their wishes and provide everything according to their capacity and curiosity. Lady Parvati, SaptRishis, Lord Parshuram, twins sages Nara and Narayana were few of them who are considered to be in direct knowledge lineage of Lord Sadashiva along with Lord Dattatreya.
Later on Lord Dattatrey accepted Lord Parshuram as his prime disciple and together they have formalized the Shri Vidya Discipline and its Master- Disciple lineage.
Along with this primary channel of disciples, there other souls too who were fortunate enough to be initiated by Lord Sadashiva himself, some other masters also came on front with passing phrase of time and they were said to be first batch of masters who had spread the knowledge of ShriVidya around the universe. These great grandmasters are today known as –

Bhagwan Manmanth
MahaRishi Agastya
MahaRishi Nandikeshwar (or Agni)

The most noting part is, any devotee or researcher who already took some in depth knowledge of Indic, Vedic and Post Vedic period sages and seers, they will easily identify that the time chronology is not matching in the order of the name of these Acharyas – the great masters mentioned here. So this is another mystery that how, when and why the order has changed. While look deep into it, we can perceive another fact associated with Shri Vidya and other prevailing or sub branches of wisdom.
The holistic part of ShriVidya at very primary level was further divided in four major sects or say, the Kul Parampara and these all sects have their predefined master- disciple linage individually. Those four prime sects were said to be –
Hadi Vidya
Kadi Vidya
Sadi Vidya and
KahAdi or Vaadi Vidya.
The significant difference amongst all these sects was their method of worship, initiation process and their own unique, beholding point of mystery that they have carried regarding ShriVidya.
It can be understood in a way that the entire Shri Vidya was in earlier time divided in four major parts and each sect beholds the key to reach the pinnacle mystery of ShriVidya. Unless the devotee proves his pure intention, pure heart and pure dedication to his immediate master the grand masters will never open this path of knowledge, neither let the devotee cross the bridge of ignorance. It is to protect the utmost sacred knowledge of entire cosmos so the precautions were much higher and of course at multiple levels.
The lineage of successors turned Grand Masters further extended to Bhagwan Sahastrarjun, Bhagwan VasudevKrishna, Bhagwan Kapil, Rishi Garg, Rishi Kanadd, Devi Mahamaya Mohini.. This indeed supreme channel of knowledge has reached in to recent era of Kaliyug when BhagwadPaad Shankara born in today’s Kerala, India around 788 AD.
The ShriVidya that we the devotees and seekers are worshipping and following today belonged to Lord Adi Shankara. He throughout his short span of life wandered almost every nook and corner of contemporary India and gathered the scattered fragments of this most sacred knowledge, further organized it with great help of the Divine Supporters like GandharvaRaaj Pushpadant, Bhagwan VedVyas, GanaNatha Vinayak and Rishi Nandikeshwar. With all their collective efforts Adi Shankar evoked the lost Four- Sects lineage again and established the four clans or we can say four institutions in four directions of India.
JagadGuru Shankaracharya has appointed his own lineage in his lifetime only. These great successors and protectors of ShriVidya are very sincerely revered as JagadGurus by the devotees and they remained oath-bound to keep this sacred knowledge protected all time high no matter what time or which era they come across. Great the devotees are who strike their fortune and able to get some nectar of ShriVidya from these divine masters existing in our timeline only.
Howsoever, not everyone is fortunate enough to be the disciple in Shankar Parampara and nowadays sad to say, many people claim to teach ShriVidya very much often as if this is some course or syllabus to complete. We are not against it, if the recipient gets authentic providence, but we urge the seekers and devotees here one thing very sincerely.
The ShriVidya is not only the great understanding of the cosmos, but also greatly potent worship of Bhagwati LalitaTripurSundari who is the beholder, creator and destroyer of the Universes, who is also the primal consort of Bhagwan SadaShiva and presiding deity of the ShriChakra itself. So, we request the devotees who wanted to put forth their sincere efforts in learning Shri-Vidya, that they must find their teacher or guide who themselves are very much devoted to these above said greatest lineages of Divine Grand Masters. if at any point the devotee feels they stuck or getting confuse in their worshipping process, we here with all sincere heart suggest that these Divine Maters are beyond time and space and always remain present in all dimensions, realms, timelines and continuum, so anyone can seek their help by showing their true and dedicated intentions and these masters will guide them toward this Path of Liberation and Mundane Pleasures altogether according to the Karmic Serendipity of the devotee.
At last, we sincerely pray that may Bhagwati BrahmandAdhiShwari, MataLalitaTripurSundari bestows her grace upon all of you and take you in her refuge for eternity.
